Understanding the service

What to expect from a written listening response.

If you choose “Just listen”

The response focuses on acknowledging what you have experienced and reflecting the emotions and themes that are present. It avoids rushing into solutions when what you need most is to feel heard.

If you choose “Help me find clarity”

The response may separate events, feelings, assumptions and decisions so the situation is easier to view. It may include a question for your own reflection, but it will not tell you what you must do.

If you choose “Suggest one next step”

The reply offers one gentle, practical action to consider. The suggestion is general rather than professional advice, and you remain responsible for deciding whether it fits your circumstances.

What it cannot provide

A written listening response cannot assess an emergency, diagnose a condition, provide therapy, replace medical care or guarantee an outcome. It is also not a live chat: the normal reply target is within 24–48 hours.
